Our Vision

In communities like the Langano community in Ethiopia, we want to use the resources available to us to help others. Through projects like Langano Farms, LHF provides resources to educate and encourage sustainable, life-changing skills primarily through an agricultural model.

History

Langano Harvest Foundation (LHF) was established in 2010 to help establish and promote Langano Farms, and to provide assistance in obtaining and implementing resources to ensure its success.

Co-founders Mike Rodgers and Dave Ralston met in Ethiopia in 2006. Mike felt called to serve full time in Ethiopia and moved his family there in August 2007 where they lived until August 2009. In 2008, Mike was approached by the Dawe (Langano) community leadership, who were concerned about the extreme poverty and hunger in their community as well as the lack of jobs in the area. They asked for his help. All he had to offer them at the time were prayers, but those prayers were answered quickly! Genesis Farms (located in Debre Zeit) offered to train some people in the Langano area in drip irrigation, compost development and other farming techniques. Undeveloped land with a water source was assigned by the community, seeds and tools were bought and Langano Farms was birthed.

Dave served in the Langano community by making many work trips there and promoting the case for serving the poor in the area. He continues to serve as a volunteer. Both Mike and Dave along with some of the other founding members of Langano Harvest Foundation were introduced to Ethiopia and the Langano area by the Sports Friends ministry. Sports Friends and Langano Harvest Foundation seek to complement each other in an effort to further the kingdom.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.
