Our Mission

Bill graduated from the University of Virginia as an undergraduate and from the University of Richmond Law School. He owned and managed a law firm for many years and has been active in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

Hannah found her passion of caring for animals upon starting high school where she took agricultural classes. She became a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America) where she served as a junior officer. During her internships with local veterinary clinics, she assisted in taking vitals, physical exams and births. Hannah is currently majoring in Animal Sciences and Management at Penn State University. As part of her undergraduate studies, she will be working at their on-site cattle and equine farms as well as the poultry research center. Hannah enjoys outdoor activities such as golfing and fishing. She also volunteers at senior centers doing animal therapy when she is not caring for her young nephew. Hannah has a real-life bearded dragon named Rocky.

Heather first visited Langano in 2008 as a fifth grader when her parents, Susan & Tex, took the entire family for two weeks. Experiencing the stark contrast of a third-world country from her everyday life had a long-lasting impact and spurred a desire to look at people through God’s eyes, with love and compassion. Heather returned to Langano again in 2014, spending time on the farm, in the church and school, and building a fish house. Heather looks forward to finding new opportunities to serve and intends to use innovation to bring prosperity and hope to Langano. Heather works on strategic partnerships for a cloud consulting company. She lives in Austin, Texas with her chocolate lab. Heather graduated with a business degree from Drexel University where she also played Division One lacrosse.

Kerry is married and lives in Concord, NC with his wife Tammy. He has four adult children, one granddaughter and recently retired after working 41 years with American Airlines. He has been involved in missions for over 20 years and has led teams to many different countries. Involvement in missions is what brought Kerry to Ethiopia and Langano Harvest Foundation.

Mike is married to his college sweetheart (Stacey) with whom he loves to travel and visit their combined eight children. Mike lived in Ethiopia from 2007 to 2009 in both Addis Ababa and the Arsi Negele region, attended Amharic language school while there, and has returned to Ethiopia numerous times with family and friends. Mike is a graduate of Virginia Tech and a USMC veteran of Desert Shield/Storm. Besides traveling, Mike loves to cook and send an excessive amount of pictures of his creations to his family.

When Susan and her family visited Langano in 2008, she was struck by the impact it had on her 4 children. The entire family had an awakening to the suffering of people in third world countries. Upon returning to the United States, Susan walked through the grocery store, this time amazed at how easy it was to get safe, healthy food in America. Since then, she has been actively supporting missionaries like Mike Rodgers, and organizations focused on feeding the hungry. Susan graduated from The College of William and Mary. She currently works for West Pharmaceutical Services. The Camdens live in Downingtown, PA.

Tex is a medical device sales and marketing professional in Philadelphia, PA. Tex is a graduate of Virginia Tech and served in the United States Marine Corps in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm alongside Mike Rodgers. Tex and his wife Susan have four children: Meg, Heather, Anna, and John. They also became guardians for a young man from Nigeria, Samuel Ayomide Onu. The Camdens were introduced to the Langano community over Christmas in 2008 when they visited Africa. Their hearts were moved by the glaring need of basic necessities in the community. The opportunity to help the citizens of Langano has motivated them to be a part of LHF. Since the original trip in 2008, Tex and Heather have returned to Ethiopia to assist with short term projects.

Tom Tillar is a three-time graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Biology 1970, and later an MA in Student Personnel and EdD in Educational Administration, as well as earning his Certified Fund Raising Executive certificate. He retired at Virginia Tech as Vice President for Alumni Relations where his focus was on alumni programs and fund raising, including oversight of alumni chapters, reunions, alumni records, and communications. Tom has been involved with many volunteer activities including Pi Kappa Alpha Foundation, Montgomery Hospital Board, Center in the Square Board, Rotary Club, Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, Blacksburg Health and Fitness, Smithfield Preston Foundation, National Education Alumni Trust, as well as supporting Langano Farms from the very beginning. Describing his interest in LHF, Tom says, "I have spent a career in education working with non-profit organizations. There is a rich reward in seeing the tremendous good they do by engaging volunteers and attracting resources that have a true impact in the world. Throughout those experiences, I have been especially privileged to mentor many young individuals who believe that there is more to life than being professionally successful and therefore choose to live a life of giving. Through their work, they make a tremendous impact on those in need.

Vicky was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. She met her husband, John, while serving in the U.S. Air Force at Homestead AFB in South Florida. They were married in 1989, have four children and two grandsons and currently reside near Reading, PA. After visiting Langano, Ethiopia in 2012, Vicky’s heart was overwhelmed by the community and what LHF had already completed. It was after this trip that she became excited to join LHF and use her administrative and accounting talents to assist in furthering their mission.
